No More Excuses: You can be Physically Fit

by Jennifer Bell

You can be physically fitYou are juggling a job, husband, kids, carpool schedules, and kids’ school work. By the end of the day, you are exhausted so your “me” time usually consists of cleaning or sleeping. That’s about to change. It is possible to incorporate fitness into your day, and it will change your life. This article will address the top excuses that busy women use to skip exercise and provide the reasons why these excuses are no longer acceptable.

(1) I don’t have time.
Maybe you don’t have the hour or so that is necessary to drive to a gym, exercise, and drive home, but you still have time for exercise. If you have a DVD player, you can bring the gym into your house. Start by checking out exercise DVDs from the library until you find some that you like enough to buy. There are many ten minute or fifteen minute workouts available on DVD so even a small amount of exercise time can make a huge difference.

If you really can’t spare ten or fifteen minutes during the day, you should consider getting a pedometer and trying to walk as much as possible during the day. Could you take a brisk walk during your lunch hour? Could you park further away when running to the store or doing other errands to get extra steps in? Could you take the stairs instead of the elevator? All of these add fitness into your day.

(2) I am too tired.
You may feel tired before you start, but all you need to do is start moving. Moving your body is invigorating. We weren’t meant to be so sedentary so movement will give you more energy and will lift your spirits more than you could possibly expect.

(3) I can’t do it.
Of course, you can. If you can walk, you can exercise. Can you lift cans of soup for a weight-lifting workout? Yes, anything is possible. Think positively and good things will happen.

(4) I don’t like exercise.
If you think exercise is boring, you haven’t found the right exercise for you. Ideally, exercise should be something you look forward to, and it should be as important as taking a multi-vitamin. It is one of the best things you can do for yourself so you need to find something you like. There are so many different types of workouts including dance, yoga, kickboxing, weight lifting, and step aerobics. Everybody can find something enjoyable.

As you can see, you need to stop making excuses and put yourself first for ten or fifteen minutes each day to give yourself the gift of physical fitness. Try it and see how wonderful it feels.
